On Baby Yoga

Every Wednesday, Liam and I attend a mama and baby yoga class at Baby Moon, a birth/motherhood resource center here in town. I look forward to it each and every week, and I beginning to believe that Liam does, too. I have no photos or other visual aids to assist in my blog about Baby Yoga, but I must say something about support. Having the support, knowledge, and community of these women and babies has made all the difference in my post-partum estrogen roller coaster. Of course, it's a bit difficult to get in any actual yoga, but we moms get a little stretching and relaxation in; and the babies get some, too! Today at the end of class I sat while nursing Liam and looked over the 12+ moms and babies, laying and playing together, and I felt a surge of emotion for these women, these babies, and the jobs we do mothering them. It's certainly a blessing. I encourage any of you that have resources like this to seek them out. You never know where you'll make new friends (adults or babies!)

Changing every day!

While hurrying to get ready to leave the house the other morning, I put Liam on the floor next to my closet while I searched for sandals. Why can't I remember where I put my sandals at the end of the summer last year? Am I still suffering from pregnancy memory loss?

Anyway, I laid him down on the carpet and he loved it! I realize it's crazy that almost four months have passed and the kid has never laid on the carpet, but he seemed to love the new view. Here he is staring at the ceiling, kicking and talking, which is his new favorite past-time. Who would have thought he'd like to talk, with quiet parents like Mark and I?

Here is another shot of Liam with my new favorite baby clothing item, Baby Legs. Thanks to Sarah V. for introducing me to these great leg coverings for babes! As the packaging says, they really do make diaper changing a breeze. At first Mark was a little hesitant to put his young strapping son in a pair of "legwarmers", but he quickly warmed to them himself when there were no snaps to contend with. I've got three pair and counting...

As evidenced by the large amount of drool on his chest, we believe that the little guy may have started teething. "What?" you say, "a four month old, teething?". Our doc said it wouldn't happen, but he's drooling like crazy (Liam, not the doctor) and is constantly gnawing on his hands or anything else he can get in his mouth. I actually got the teething ring out the other day and he chewed happily on it for many minutes. It's so cool to see how much he is changing. Being a mommy is absolutely amazing.

Busy Boy

Our dancecards have been full the last two weeks as we traveled to Columbus and Louisville for Easter celebrations. Last week, my dad came over to watch Liam for a couple hours while Mark and I cleaned the house! Liam is going through a stage where he doesn't like to be put down, particularly when Mommy is home. He and Grandpa had a good time chatting out on the porch and then taking a nap.

Mark and Liam spent the week together last week during Mark's Spring Break. It was certainly an adventure for Daddy, who realized that it is next to impossible to get a thing done during the day when you are solely responsible for an infant. They had a great time and Mark is even more smitten with the little guy than before.
My camera is acting goofy and doesn't want to upload photos. I'll post some Easter ones next time.

Kid's books that will help to polarize the next generation of voters

From the left:
Why Mommy is a Democrat

And the right:
Help! Mom! There are Liberals under my bed!

This is a whole series. Also look for Help!Mom! Hollywood's in my hamper! and Help! Mom! The 9th circuit nabbed the Nativity!

Don't worry, Liam lovers, I'll get off my soapbox and post some pictures in the next few days.
