Cool shoes

Liam really digs shoes. These are his latest faves. He wakes up in the morning and after his nap and says "shoes?" and points to them. We must put them on right away, before doing anything else. Toddlerhood is quite interesting, that's for sure!

Weekend trip

This weekend we went to Ohio to visit my grandma and Liam's godmother, among others. We had a great time while Mark celebrated a friend's last days of bachelorhood in Cincinnati.

Liam is getting better at eating on his own, though ice cream cones can be messy...particularly in the car!

Entertainment at Grandma D's house...

Out on the boat with Uncle Kent and cousin Christina (Aunt Ginny and Grandma present but not pictured)...

Liam and I take the wheel!

A fun weekend for my last weekend away in likely some time!

Liam the Baker

Yesterday was Mark's first full day of school, so Liam and I made him a special dinner, which included a cheesecake. Liam really likes to help me cook, particularly when I let him snack along the way!

You can see the new kitchen, particularly my expansive counter space (you should have seen it before...nonexistent) in these photos, but since things aren't totally "finished", meaning baseboards, toe kicks, and touch-up paint, my handyman hubby doesn't want me to post before and afters. But for those of you worried about me and my inability to cook in my own kitchen, those days are over! It might not be totally finished, but it works. And it's great! But I'll save my kudos for the post when we're actually finished. Here are some more of Liam "baking"...

And here he is waiting at the window for Daddy to come home. He's really noticed that Daddy isn't here during the day. When he wakes up, Mark is now gone, but Liam still runs into our bedroom going "Daddy? Daddy?" It's cute.

A little creepy

So the Kentucky State Fair begins this week and this flyer was in the paper over the weekend. When I first saw it, I thought, "gee, she kind of looks familiar", and then I realized that it is like a caricaturized, (not a real word, I realize) childlike version of me. It kind of creeps me out.

Here's a close up, which is even creepier. I held the flyer up next to my face to show Mark the resemblence, and Liam was so confused. You could see his eyes go back and forth and he exclaimed, "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy?".

If I'm going to be the spokeswoman for the Kentucky Fair, fine by me. But I'd like to be aware so I could get a higher quality photo for my caricature modeling portfolio.

Flirty McFlirtersons

We went to a wedding this past weekend, and Liam was enchanted by a young lady sitting near our table. He's really started getting in to music, and likes to dance. He especially enjoyed dancing with his new lady friend, pictured below. It was too cute!

After dancing, they went for a romantic walk...

Until he ruined his chances by taking a call from someone else!

Ah, boys. Sometimes they just don't know when to quit!
